Ian Strawn

Self-proclaimed people watcher and observer, artist Ian Strawn is a contemporary figurative painter expertly working in oil on birch. Ian displays a keen eye for painting a scene that is not wholly realized . His unique approach to humanizing the form is complimented by beautiful brush technique and a sense of humor. Settings, clothes and objects are often abridged or discarded, but the meticulous elements that remain, satiates his desire to know these others. It is what’s left, when nothing more is wanted - a longer look into a fleeting moment. Ian is a graduate of BYU Visual Arts and currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
