Alison Underwood
Alison Underwood's work evokes various emotions of desires as her artwork proves to display the ideas of temptation and anticipation. These profound feelings are demonstrated in the forms of vivid humanity and beauty. The imagery symbolizes feelings in the simple yet ordinary parts of individual’s lives; furthermore, the attraction many have to curious cravings is vibrantly captured. The artwork proves to have incredibly detailed, bright imagery provided through a tone of darkness in a thematic sense. The imagery is developed and directed with flat geometrics and uses a wide variety of artistic techniques across a two-dimensional space and is created in stylistic techniques with painting, printmaking, collages, as well as digital imagery. Alison grew up in a small town in rural Kentucky. She holds a B.A. in Studio Art from The University of Louisville and an M.A. in History of Design and Curatorial Studies from Parsons/Cooper Hewitt in New York City. She currently lives and works from her studio in Nashville, Tennessee.
