Modfellows Art Gallery presents Lovescapes, an exhibition of works by Martin Kahnle that explores the nature and humanity of the southern Blue Ridge Mountain region. The series features a wide variety of vibrant illustrative paintings depicting the region’s lush mountainscapes.
Inspired by the landscape paintings of David Hockney, Alex Katz, and Lawren Harris, Kahnle transports the viewer to boldly rendered forests and brooks. With thematic intentions, these works are meant to reflect upon individuals sharing space with nature. The vibrant colors and gestural brushwork suggest a sense of interconnectivity and serenity. Kahnle’s consistent incorporation of mountains, flowing rivers, vegetation, & the weather invokes a sense of harmony and peace of all life on Earth.
